Meilleures randonnées de Norvège des Fjords

Seriez-vous tenté par l’ascension de formations rocheuses emblématiques comme le Trolltunga et le rocher de la Chaire ? Ou préfèreriez-vous une randonnée moins fréquentée, avec des vues tout aussi sublimes ? Peu de régions possèdent des paysages aussi variés que la Norvège des Fjords. Voici quelques-unes des meilleures randonnées de Norvège des Fjords.

Ses montagnes les plus connues, comme le Preikestolen, la crête de Romsdalseggen, le Trolltunga et le Kjerag ne sont qu’une infime portion des randonnées les plus populaires de Norvège des Fjords – qui, toutes, sont synonymes de grande aventure. Elles pourraient toutefois mettre à l’épreuve vos genoux et vos cuisses, à moins que vous ne soyez un marcheur aguerri. Cependant, vous trouverez aussi de nombreux sentiers plus courts et plus abordables, parfaits pour les familles avec enfants ou quiconque souhaite ne pas forcer. Il existe plusieurs régions propices à la randonnée sur les rives des fjords, dans les parcs nationaux et dans les vallées.

La Norvège des Fjords s'étendant sur plus de 57 604 m2, vous pourriez vouloir ne pas tout faire en une seule fois. Pourquoi ne pas sélectionner une ou deux contrées et les explorer de fond en comble – ce qui vous permettrait par la même occasion d'éviter la foule ? L’ouest de la Norvège comprend de nombreuses régions. Ci-dessous, nous décrivons quelques-unes des meilleures randonnées dans chacune d’entre elles, du sud au nord.

L’essentiel, c’est de déterminer à l’avance quel itinéraire convient le mieux à votre niveau. Lisez nos pages dédiées à la sécurité et à la préparation au séjour rando ! Si vous souhaitez entreprendre une ascension plus difficile, nous vous recommandons les randonnées en groupe ou bien de faire appel à un guide certifié.

Une sélection de randonnées superbes, du sud au nord de la Norvège des Fjords

Ryfylke

Allez dans le Ryfylke, qui concentre plusieurs des randonnées les plus connues de Norvège. Gravissez le plateau montagneux du Preikestolen (le rocher de la Chaire), qui surplombe le Lysefjord du haut de ses 604 mètres, ou le Kjerag, au sommet duquel le rocher de Kjeragbolten est coincé entre deux parois. Un grand nombre de randonnées magnifiques vous attendent également dans le secteur, que vous souhaitiez marcher de refuge en refuge sur une période de plusieurs jours ou enchaîner les excursions à la journée, depuis un port d'attache comme Sandnes ou Stavanger (voir ci-dessous).

Région de Stavanger

La région de Stavanger dispose d'un excellent réseau de sentiers pédestres balisés présentant une grande diversité. Partez en famille pour une aventure urbaine le long du littoral  dans les environs escarpés de Stavanger et Sandnes ou sur les longs rubans de sable fin de Jærstrendene. À moins que vous ne soyez spécialement venu pour les randonnées du Preikestolen et du Kjerag dans le Ryfylke (voir ci-dessus) ?

Haugesund et Haugalandet

On a souvent comparé les paysages rencontrés à Haugesund et dans la région du Haugalandet à ceux que l’on a pu voir dans les séries télévisées Game of Thrones et Vikings. Cela n’a rien d'étonnant, puisque les rois vikings ont élu domicile ici pendant plus de mille ans. Crapahutez dans ces montagnes chargées d’histoire, parcourez le littoral ou l’une des grandes îles qui lui font face, absorbez la beauté brute de ces paysages où mer et ciel se confondent. La randonnée de Himakånå, formation rocheuse rappelant le Trolltunga, mais à plus petite échelle, est un classique local.

Sunnhordland

Faites votre choix entre 200 sentiers balisés dans le Sunnhordland, allant des randonnées faciles pour toute la famille aux sommets de 1 400 m avec des vues fantastiques. Vous pouvez aussi suivre le sentier de la mer du Nord, avec vue sur le grand large. À moins que vous ne préfériez louer les services d’un guide pour une randonnée glaciaire sur le Folgefonna, l’un des plus grands glaciers de Norvège ?

Région du Hardangerfjord

Le Hardanger abrite bien sûr le célébrissime rocher de Trolltunga, mais cette randonnée longue et ardue n’est pas à la portée de tous. Fort heureusement, il existe de très nombreux autres parcours de randonnée dans cette partie de la Norvège des Fjords. Vous pouvez ainsi opter pour le sentier panoramique de la reine Sonja, vous émerveiller devant de nombreuses cascades (dont la spectaculaire Vøringsfossen) ou encore, au printemps, flâner parmi les vergers en fleurs. Là, vous pourrez en profiter pour déguster certains des meilleurs cidres du monde.

Bergen

Question panoramas à couper le souffle et sentiers accessibles depuis un centre-ville, on fait difficilement mieux que Bergen. Commencez votre journée en hauteur (vous pouvez prendre le Fløibanen, un funiculaire, ou le téléphérique d’Ulriken si vous souhaitez démarrer votre randonnée du sommet), puis redescendez à pied pour retrouver peu à peu l’effervescence de la ville.

Voss

Préparez-vous à vivre des vacances qui remuent dans la capitale norvégienne des sensations fortes. Voss est une référence pour les amateurs de sports extrêmes en tous genres – même jusque dans l’assiette ! En ce qui concerne la randonnée, les montagnes voisines vous offrent un large éventail de sentiers, présentant tous les niveaux de difficulté, avec des vues tout simplement époustouflantes.

Région du Sognefjord

Le plus long et profond fjord de Norvège s’enfonce sur 204 kilomètres à l’intérieur des terres et possède plusieurs bras sublimes – comme le Nærøyfjord, inscrit sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO. La région du Sognefjord  réunit également certaines des contrées les plus populaires du pays pour la randonnée. Foulez d’un pas léger la voie royale (Kongevegen) historique qui conduit à la charmante bourgade de Lærdal ou parcourez les montagnes autour de Flåm. À moins que vous ne préfériez partir à la découverte de l’une des plus extraordinaires vallées de Norvège ?

Sunnfjord

À mi-chemin entre Ålesund et Bergen se trouve le district de Sunnfjord, que l’on surnomme souvent « le pays des cascades » en raison des innombrables chutes d’eau qui dévalent ses versants montagneux. Les sentiers balisés y sont nombreux, et des circuits guidés sont organisés.

Côte des Fjords

Sortez des sentiers battus dans l’extrême ouest norvégien. Vous pourrez vous rendre au sommet de monuments naturels tels qu’Alden, Lihesten et Hornelen – plus haute falaise d’Europe – ou opter pour l’un des nombreux sentiers de la mer du Nord, abordables en famille. Si vous aimez les expériences fortes, visitez la côte des Fjords entre novembre et février pour la saison des tempêtes !

Nordfjord

Entre le plus grand glacier d’Europe continentale et un littoral spectaculaire, les randonneurs n’ont que l’embarras du choix : le Nordfjord totalise plus de 230 sentiers de randonnée balisés. Pour les randonnées glaciaires, notez qu’il faut être accompagné d’un guide. Puisque vous êtes dans les parages, faites un détour par le haut lieu de l’aventure qu’est Loen, où le Loen Skylift vous conduira au sommet de la montagne. Et puis, ne manquez pas l’occasion d'aller skier à Stryn en plein été !

La région du Geirangerfjord

La plupart des visiteurs ne passent qu’une seule journée dans les environs. Grosse erreur ! Le Geirangerfjord, d'un bleu profond, est bordé de majestueuses montagnes aux cimes enneigées et aux versants parcourus de cascades et recouverts d'une dense végétation. Participez à une excursion guidée agrémentée de récits extraordinaires ou bien parcourez seul l’extraordinaire paysage inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO de la région du Geirangerfjord.

Ålesund et Sunnmøre

Les alpes de Sunnmøre, célèbres pour leurs vertigineux sommets dominant les fjords, enflamment l’imagination des randonneurs depuis des siècles. Les montagnes du littoral, ainsi que sur plusieurs îles, sont moins hautes et plus arrondies, mais n’en offrent pas moins de superbes vues sur la mer et les magnifiques plages de sable fin.
