L’ouest de la Norvège est également le royaume des fameux fjords. Regardez ces montagnes, ainsi que les cascades qui ruissellent dans leurs eaux turquoise.
Les fjords les plus connus sont inscrits sur la liste du patrimoine mondial : le Geirangerfjord et le Nærøyfjord, le Hardangerfjord, le Nordfjord et le Sognefjord, long de 205 km. Mais les fjords moins connus vous charmeront tout autant. La région en compte des centaines !

... Enfilez vos chaussures de randonnée et faites le plein de beaux panoramas. Vous trouverez de très belles randonnées presque partout en Norvège des Fjords.
Certaines d’entre elles sont difficiles, même pour des marcheurs expérimentés. D’autres sont courtes et faciles – et tout aussi sublimes.

En hiver, on peut même skier sur tout un versant jusqu’au fjord. Yiiihaaa !
La Norvège des Fjords compte d’excellentes stations de ski, où l’on peut aussi bien pratiquer le hors-piste que skier sur des pistes familiales, comme à Stranda, Sogndal, Myrkdalen et Voss. Sur certains glaciers, on peut même skier en été.
... Et l’on peut contempler ces superbes paysages depuis le pont d’un navire de croisière, sur un fjord.

Ne ratez pas le train de la ligne de Flåm ! Cette dernière figure au palmarès des plus spectaculaires lignes ferroviaires du monde.
Vous pouvez la découvrir avec le célèbre circuit Norway in a Nutshell, au départ de Bergen et Oslo.
En fait, les lignes de Bergen et de Rauma figurent aussi dans le classement de Lonely Planet des plus jolis itinéraires touristiques ferroviaires d’Europe.
On peut également profiter du paysage le long des Routes panoramiques de Norvège qui zigzaguent par monts et par fjords.
Pour des raisons de sécurité, la fameuse route de Trollstigen sera fermée jusqu'au 14 juillet 2025.
Si vous arrivez en voiture par le côté Geiranger/Valldal, vous pourrez toutefois accéder à la spectaculaire plateforme d'observation et admirer les 11 virages en épingle à cheveux.
Bien sûr, ce genre de route requiert de prendre son temps. La Norvège des Fjords est beaucoup plus vaste qu’il n’y paraît sur la carte. Prenez votre temps ou concentrez-vous uniquement sur une partie de la région.
Faites des escales pour découvrir les produits régionaux.
Des poissons et fruits de mer ultra frais. Une viande qui comblera tout autant vos papilles que les paysages combleront vos pupilles. Et les fruits les plus juteux qui soient, à croquer – ou à savourer sous forme de cidre – cultivés dans les fermes de la région de Hardanger ou de Sognefjord.
Un parfum d'aventure souffle sur le littoral, constellé d’îles fascinantes comme le village de pêcheurs de Grip, dont de nombreuses maisons ont été emportées par la mer en 1804, avant d’être reconstruites.
La Norvège des Fjords possède également des villes ravissantes.
De nombreux touristes commencent naturellement par se rendre à Bergen. Cette ancienne capitale norvégienne, qui fut comptoir de la Ligue hanséatique, abrite des quartiers vibrants d’histoire comme Bryggen – et une scène culturelle dynamique qui programme pièces de théâtre, concerts et festivals tout au long de l’année.
Mais Bergen n’est pas l’unique pépite urbaine de cette région norvégienne.
La côte est pourvue de villes fascinantes, telles que la perle Art nouveau d’Ålesund (photo), la gastronomique Stavanger et Haugesund, connue pour son riche passé viking.
