EQUIPMENT, WEATHER FORECAST AND TROLLTUNGA TRAIL INFORMATION

The weather in the high mountains can change quickly and it is always colder than at sea level. Check the weather forecast.

Do not hike if strong winds, heavy rain or fog is predicted. Rescue operations are triggered by hikers every year. What to bring: hiking boots, additional clothing, rainwear, plenty to eat and drink, a headlamp, a basic first-aid kit, a bivvy. Hiking equipment for rent in Skjeggedal and at Odda Tourist Office.

PHOTOS AT TROLLTUNGA

When the weather is nice, there are many hikers in the mountain and a photo queue at Trolltunga. Please keep this in mind when you are taking your pictures. Try to be efficient and limit yourself to two poses. Someone nearby will gladly take your picture – just ask.

HIKING DOS AND DON’TS

Always

Bring plenty of food and drink.
Bring extra warm, windproof and waterproof clothing.
Stay together with your fellow hikers – never leave them on their own.
Help keep our mountain wilderness pristine! Please carry all your garbage back, discard it in the rubbish bins in the parking lots.
Your campsite and toilet visits must be downhill from trails and well away from streams.

Never

For safety reasons, don’t operate drones in the hiking areas.
Never attach stickers onto signs or information boards. This information is vital to all hikers!
Don’t light campfires between April 15th and September 15th.
Don’t pollute our streams!
