En mai 2021, le Financial Times a classé les Lofoten en septième position de son classement des meilleures destinations d’Europe pour l’escalade.

Avec ses spectaculaires falaises, ses innombrables blocs et le soleil de minuit, les îles des Lofoten, et tout particulièrement Henningsvær, attirent les grimpeurs du monde entier.

Stetind, dans la kommune de Narvik en Norvège du Nord, est une jolie montagne de près de 1400 m d'altitude. Cette montagne possède déjà une silhouette originale, mais la vue depuis le sommet est une expérience inoubliable. C’est une ascension raide, difficile, qui requiert d’être en bonne condition physique.

Pour profiter au maximum de votre course tout en assurant votre sécurité, nous vous recommandons de faire appel à un guide de montagne certifié pour l’ascension du Stetind.

Les pics alléchants de Hurrungane, dans le massif du Jotunheimen, attirent de nombreux skieurs et grimpeurs. Ici, vous trouverez une grande palette de paysages de haute montagne, qui combleront tous les amateurs de randonnée.

L’une des destinations les plus populaires est Store Skagastølstind, le troisième sommet de Norvège.

La voie démarre à Turtagrø, un hôtel souvent utilisé comme point de rencontre dans le Jotunheimen. Vous rejoindrez ensuite la vallée de Skaga (Skagadalen), avant d’entamer l'ascension à destination du refuge de Bandet (photo), d'où vous continuerez vers le sommet. La course prend 12-15 heures aller-retour et nécessite d’être en bonne condition physique.

Åndalsnes est également une excellente destination pour l’escalade, avec des spots très appréciés comme Trollveggen, Romsdalshorn, Bispen et Hornaksla.

Si vous êtes intéressé par l’escalade de blocs, renseignez-vous sur Mjelva et Skiri.

Le « pic » photographié ici est celui du centre norvégien pour l’alpinisme, qui permet de découvrir les sports de montagne à travers des expositions interactives, mais qui abrite également le plus haut mur d’escalade en salle de Norvège, d’une hauteur de 21 mètres !

En hiver, plantez vos piolets dans la glace des superbes cascades de glace de Rjukan, considéré comme l’un des meilleurs spots d’Europe du Nord pour cette discipline !

Geitgallien (photo) dans les Lofoten offre également une bonne destination hivernale pour évoluer sur la glace, équipé de piolets et crampons.

Mais soyez prudent ! Rappelez-vous que l’escalade sur glace sans guide est uniquement réservée aux glaciéristes chevronnés.

Vous aimez les sensations fortes, mais n'avez aucune expérience de l’escalade ? Dans ce cas, la via ferrata pourrait vous convenir. La via ferrata est une forme d’escalade sur parcours sécurisé, avec une ligne de vie tout au long de la voie. Lorsque les enfants sont suffisamment grands, c’est une activité à pratiquer en famille.

De nouvelles voies ouvrent constamment. Aujourd’hui, on compte environ 20 vias ferratas en Norvège, notamment celle de la célèbre Trolltunga (photo). Oserez-vous relever le défi de la voie la plus difficile de Norvège, la « Ragnarok Extreme », à Loen ?
