Située en Norvège de l’Est, la vallée de Gudbrandsdalen, c’est le mariage inédit de la culture, d'une faune et d'une nature d’exception. En parcourant la vallée, on peut visiter six parcs nationaux au gré des montagnes environnantes, notamment le Jotunheimen, le Dovrefjell et les Rondane.
La ville olympique de Lillehammer marque l’accès sud de la vallée de Gudbrandsdalen. Celle-ci s'étire sur 230 km vers le nord, en direction de Lesja et de la vallée de Romsdalen. Plusieurs vallées latérales ponctuent son tracé – Gausdal, Espedalen, Heidal et Ottadalen.
La région est réputée pour son abondance de produits locaux, ses bâtiments anciens et ses paysages contrastés. Avec ses vastes zones boisées, ses montagnes et ses cours d’eau, Gudbrandsdalen est l’endroit idéal pour pêcher, marcher et skier.
Vous pouvez également y assister au festival Peer Gynt, faire une descente en raft ou partir observer les bœufs musqués dans les montagnes de Dovrefjell. Dans le massif de Jotunheimen, admirez le paysage du haut du Galdhøpiggen, point culminant du pays.

La Dovrebanen (« voie ferrée de Dovre ») qui va d’Oslo à Trondheim suit le tracé de la vallée jusqu’à Dombås, avant de gravir le plateau montagneux de Dovrefjell. Le train effectue également un arrêt à l’aéroport d’Oslo.
La Raumabanen (« voie ferrée de Rauma ») relie Dombås à Åndalsnes, avec des arrêts à Lesja, Lesjaverk et Bjorli tout au nord de la vallée.
Il est facile de se rendre dans la vallée de Gudbrandsdalen par le bus. Plusieurs compagnies de bus la desservent. Consultez les prix des tickets à destination du nord et du sud de la vallée.

Si vous voyagez depuis Oslo en voiture, suivez simplement l’E6. Il faut compter environ 2 heures d’Oslo à Lillehammer, et quatre heures d’Oslo à Dombås. Depuis Trondheim, il faut 3 heures jusqu'à Dombås et 5 heures jusqu'à Lillehammer.
L'aéroport international le plus proche est Oslo Airport. Lillehammer, qui est la porte d'accès sud à la vallée de Gudbrandsdalen est à 1 h40 de l’aéroport d’Oslo en voiture, et 2 heures en train.
L'aéroport de Trondheim est également desservi par des lignes intérieures et internationales. Il faut compter environ 4 heures de l’aéroport jusqu’à Dombås, et 4,5 heures jusqu’à Otta.
