La Norvège possède un réseau ferroviaire étendu et pittoresque, de Kristiansand dans le Sud à Bodø au nord du cercle polaire arctique.
Les principales villes norvégiennes sont desservies par le train, la plupart des lignes passant par la capitale Oslo. Le vaste réseau ferroviaire norvégien se déploie en éventail depuis Oslo, qui dispose par ailleurs de bonnes liaisons avec les capitales voisines de Stockholm et Copenhague.
Voyager en train en Norvège permet d’admirer d'incroyables paysages – campagne, montagne, fjords et lacs. La ligne ferroviaire la plus connue est la Bergensbanen ou ligne de Bergen, que Lonely Planet considère comme l’un des plus beaux parcours en train du monde. Il relie Oslo à Bergen en passant par le plus haut plateau d’Europe, le Hardangervidda. Il rejoint également l’incroyable ligne de Flåm, l’une des lignes ayant la plus forte déclivité d’Europe.
La ligne de Bergen
La ligne ferroviaire de Dovre, entre Oslo et Trondheim, et sa ligne secondaire, la ligne d la Rauma entre Dombås et Åndalsnes, capitale de l’alpinisme de la Norvège des Fjords, ont toutes deux été distinguées par divers prix pour la beauté des paysages qu’elles traversent.
Acheter des billets
Il est souvent plus facile (et moins cher) de réserver des billets avec le planificateur de voyage Entur, qui fournit des suggestions de voyage pour tous les types de transports publics en Norvège. La réservation est plus transparente et vous avez la possibilité de réserver plusieurs trajets sur la même plateforme.
Vous pouvez également réserver des billets sur le site web ou l'application de chaque opérateur ferroviaire. Les billets sont également disponibles dans les distributeurs automatiques de la plupart des grandes gares, aux guichets et à bord des trains. Notez qu'il y a un supplément si vous achetez votre billet à bord du train, et que votre place pourrait être déjà prise.
Pour obtenir les meilleures offres, recherchez des billets à « bas prix ». N'oubliez pas que les billets les moins chers ne sont généralement pas remboursables. Si vous recherchez de la flexibilité, envisagez d'acheter un « flex ticket ».

Go Ahead Nordic vend des billets sur son site web et son application, mais uniquement pour ses propres services.
Vy vend des billets pour tous les services en Norvège, mais applique un supplément pour les sections gérées par d'autres opérateurs. Il n'y a pas de surtaxe sur la vente de billets pour Bergensbanen et d'autres sections de Vy, mais ils facturent une « surtaxe » lorsqu'ils vendent des billets pour Dovrebanen, Raumabanen, Sørlandsbanen, etc.
Entur vend des billets pour tous les services et ne facture pas de supplément (il s’aligne sur les prix de l'opérateur).
