Hurtigruten, l'express côtier norvégien, navigue de port en port le long de l'une des plus belles côtes du monde depuis plus de 130 ans !
Une bonne partie de la Norvège du Nord ne possédait ni routes dignes de ce nom, ni voie ferrée jusqu'à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
De sorte que si vous viviez dans un village de pêcheurs isolé, vous aviez le sentiment d’être…
… très isolé.
Tout changea le 2 juillet 1893 lorsque le DS Vesteraalen, premier bateau à vapeur de la compagnie Hurtigruten, entama son voyage de Trondheim à Hammerfest, effectuant 11 escales en cours de route.
En 1898, l'itinéraire s'est étendu vers le sud pour inclure Bergen.
Dix ans plus tard, Kirkenes, près de la frontière russe, est devenu le point d'arrêt le plus septentrional de ce voyage côtier.
Les clients peuvent également voyager d'Oslo au Cap Nord avec le nouveau Cap Nord Express ou de Bergen à Svalbard avec le Spitzberg Express.
Au fil des ans, Hurtigruten est devenu indissociable de la culture norvégienne, et a même été immortalisé dans une chanson, « Hurtigrute », par la chanteuse et compositrice Kari Bremnes.

Revivez le passé dans d’authentiques salons et cabines du MS Finnmarken, construit en 1956.
La vie quotidienne à bord des navires occupe toujours une place très importante aujourd’hui.
Les bateaux transportent des passagers se rendant à une réunion familiale, des grands-mères à leur rendez-vous chez le médecin et des enfants à un tournoi de football…
… aux côtés de touristes qui admirent les montagnes sous un soleil qui ne se couche jamais…
… ou qui parfois ne daigne même pas se lever.
Inutile de rester éveillé toute la nuit pour ne pas rater une aurore boréale.
Une alarme spéciale réveille les passagers endormis. Vous pouvez donc dormir à poings fermés dans votre cabine…
… après un repas fleurant bon la côte norvégienne.
Crabe royal. Agneau. Pommes de terre tardives. Et bien sûr, poisson frais.
80 % de la nourriture servie à bord provient de Norvège, ce qui garantit des emplois et des ressources quotidiennes aux habitants de la côte.
Ceux-ci pêchent le « skrei », cabillaud arctique migrateur, depuis des millénaires.
À bord du bateau, vous pourrez apprendre comment respecter les extraordinaires paysages que vous traversez.
À ce sujet, l’express côtier Hurtigruten passe pour être le croisiériste le plus écologique du monde.
