Visiter la Norvège du Nord en hiver est un must pour les amateurs de pêche à la ligne et les gourmets. Les Lofoten sont réputées être la plus importante région de pêche au cabillaud au monde.
Le cabillaud arctique est l'un des produits de base les plus fins et plus durables de Norvège. Entre janvier et avril, il migre depuis la mer de Barents et prend ses quartiers sur le littoral norvégien, d’Haugesund dans le Sud au Finnmark dans le Nord, pour frayer.
Jusqu'à la moitié des cabillauds retournent dans la région des Lofoten, où leurs parents ont frayé au minimum trois ou quatre ans plus tôt. Ainsi, la pêche des Lofoten, la « lofotfiske », est la plus grande pêche saisonnière de cabillaud. Ces dernières années, toutefois, le cabillaud arctique a migré en nombre encore plus au nord, dans les Vesterålen et à Senja.
Dans le reste de la Norvège du Nord, l’hiver est également une grande saison pour la pêche. Participez à une sortie de pêche avec guide, louez votre bateau ou pêchez depuis la rive, sur fond de majestueuses montagnes enneigées.
En hiver, vous pouvez également aller skier, vous joindre à une sortie ski avec guide et visiter certains des nombreux musées et charmants villages de pêcheurs. Peut-être même verrez-vous une aurore boréale !
De nombreux et bons restaurants proposent bien sûr du cabillaud fraîchement pêché. Si vous n'avez pas le temps de vous déplacer jusqu’ici, n’ayez nulle crainte. Les chefs des grandes villes –- à Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen ou Stavanger – vous serviront également du cabillaud, sous des formes aussi créatives que raffinées.
Durant le reste de l’année, le stockfisch (morue séchée) se décline sous d’innombrables formes – un must si vous allez dans le Nord.

Si vous aimez la pêche, vous devriez vous rendre en Norvège du Nord entre janvier et avril. À cette époque de l’année, vous pêcherez à coup sûr de quoi assurer un succulent repas.
