Le secret du ski est dans les détails

Le ski norvégien est profondément enraciné dans les traditions et les rites séculaires. Mais oubliez tout cela en vous laissant gagner par les sensations fortes de la glisse et du saut !

Quand vous viendrez en Norvège, on vous racontera probablement l'histoire du célèbre Sondre Nordheim, l'inventeur norvégien de la première fixation de ski à peu près stable du monde, souvent considéré comme le pionnier du ski moderne.

Le ski a cependant bien changé depuis le milieu du 19e siècle (et heureusement !). Aujourd’hui, les skieurs en Norvège sont souvent des snowboardeurs ou des amateurs de twintip dans un parc à neige - voire même de snowkite.

Dans les stations de ski d'altitude, la saison dure longtemps : de l'automne jusqu'au printemps, et même l'été, là où il y a un glacier. Si des pistes de ski de fond et des stations de ski alpin existent dans tout le pays, les domaines skiables les plus vastes et les plus populaires se situent dans les massifs de la Norvège du Centre et de l'Est. À côté des remontées mécaniques, des pentes et des pistes de ski de fond, on y trouve de multiples hébergements, une cuisine de qualité et des soirées animées.

Si vous rêvez d'un séjour de ski authentique et typiquement norvégien, mieux vaut cependant ne pas trop vous intéresser à la technique, ou à des lieux ou périodes spécifiques, mais plutôt aux traditions. Car les sports d'hiver sont profondément ancrés dans la culture norvégienne, ce qui explique pourquoi il y a autant de rites (et d'avis) que de pistes préparées.

Laissez-vous tenter par une balade en ski de fond dans la forêt, sans oublier de garnir votre sac à dos d'oranges fraîches, d'un thermos rempli de chocolat chaud ou de jus de cassis typique, d'un matpakke (casse-croûte) norvégien et de coussins en mousse pour pouvoir vous asseoir confortablement.

Mais avant d'enfiler votre combinaison et de chausser vos skis, renseignez-vous auprès d'un autochtone afin de connaître tous les détails, comme par exemple quelle marque de chocolat acheter. Vous vous transformerez ainsi en un vrai Norvégien !

    La sécurité en montagne

    Avant de partir en randonnée dans les montagnes norvégiennes, il est préférable de vous familiariser avec le Code de montagne norvégien. Le code s'applique toute l'année et vous permet d’être préparé s’il vous arrive quelque chose d’inattendu lors d'une expédition.

    1. Planifiez votre excursion et confiez votre itinéraire à quelqu'un.
    2. Adaptez le chemin choisi à votre expérience et votre forme.
    3. Tenez compte des conditions météo et des risques d'avalanche.
    4. Préparez-vous au mauvais temps et au gel, même sur de courtes distances.
    5. Emportez l'équipement requis pour votre sécurité et celle des autres.
    6. Choisissez des sentiers sûrs. Attention aux avalanches et à la glace.
    7. Utilisez une carte topographique et une boussole.
    8. N’ayez pas honte à faire demi-tour quand il est encore temps.
    9. Gardez vos forces et cherchez un abri quand vous en avez besoin.

    La nature norvégienne est d’une beauté extraordinaire, pleine de cascades claires, de fjords cristallins, de montagnes majestueuses et de glaciers spectaculaires. La sauvegarde de ces paysages et des communautés qui les peuplent est essentielle au bien-être des habitants et des visiteurs.

    Selon la philosophie de vie norvégienne, le développement durable est la responsabilité de tous. Le plein-air dans la nature est un réel passe-temps national, ce qui se laisse observer dans l'attitude des habitants envers la conservation de la nature à l'état sauvage.

    Que ce soit lors d'une randonnée dans les montagnes ou sur une piste cyclable en pleine forêt, les Norvégiens veillent à réduire au maximum leur empreinte sur la nature. Laissez tout, comme vous l’avez trouvé - telle est la devise où que vous alliez, dans la nature ou dans un petit village de pêcheurs.

    Ces efforts prêtent à augmenter la qualité de vie dès aujourd’hui, et pour un avenir meilleur. Il faut pour cela d’abord reconnaître la responsabilité de chaque individu comme de soi-même, puis mettre en œuvre cette pensée dans tous les aspects de la vie quotidienne. Ça n’est ni facile, ni vite fait. Mais le jeu en vaut vraiment la chandelle.
