As an extreme metal festival, Beyond the Gates arose from the ashes of the cult Hole in the Sky festival in 2013. Renowned for curating some of the best lineups in extreme metal has grown into a favorite summer event for heavy music fans all over the globe. The festival will take place for four days across multiple venues, including USF Verftet, Kulturhuset, and the legendary Grieghallen, where many seminal Norwegian black metal albums were recorded in the 90s. Beyond the Gates experience In addition to this massive extreme metal event, Beyond the Gates offers attendees unique and exciting opportunities to explore Norwegian and black metal culture in this historic city! Les 14 et 15 mars 2026 sont les grandes dates de la saison à Holmenkollen, le traditionnel week-end nordique. Avec ski de fond, saut et combiné au programme, les athlètes et le public sont au rendez-vous pour deux jours pleins de suspense, d’histoire et de fête populaire. Le samedi sera tout à fait spécial, quand le double 50 km sera organisé pour la première fois à Holmenkollen. Les hommes partiront à 10h00, avant le départ des femmes à 10h30. Cela signifie que les fondeurs seront sur les pistes en même temps, une innovation qui donnera plus d’action et créera de l’animation sur le stade et le long de la piste. Le public pourra profiter de l’atmosphère habituelle de Holmenkollen mais sous une forme nouvelle et moderne. Le dimanche sera l’iconique dimanche de Holmenkollen avec du saut et du combiné toute la journée. Le public pourra se réjouir d’une journée entière de sauts spectaculaires sur le grand tremplin, combinés à une résistance incroyable et à des duels tactiques sur la piste de ski de fond. C’est ce jour qui a manqué à beaucoup de monde, et le voilà enfin de retour. Le week-end sera une célébration du meilleur du ski. De fières traditions y rencontreront de nouveaux concepts intéressants, et le public pourra faire l’expérience de tout ce que représente Holmenkollen : la communauté, la passion et les sensations fortes.

Their repertoire consists mostly of well‑known music by both Norwegian and international artists such as Ole Paus, Sigvart Dagsland, The Beatles, ABBA, and Coldplay. With nearly 90 singers and their own band, BENEDICTINERNE has established itself as one of Norway’s largest mixed choirs. The choir is founded and led by conductor Benedicte Sjøvold. iKor is a versatile choir from Stavanger that performs a wide range of genres including pop, rock, folk, classical, and film music. John Gunnar Akerø is the choir’s musical leader and arranges most of their repertoire, giving iKor a unique and tailored musical expression. Jakub Niedziela is the choir’s energetic and skilled conductor.

Each of these has played a crucial role in developing the festival into one of the country's leading events in its category. Maijazz is committed to playing a role in the exciting development and challenges facing the Stavanger region. Maijazz provides great experiences and brings life to the city Maijazz aims to contribute to the enjoyment of music, insight and reflection. But of course also to good entertainment, great experiences and life in the city. Maijazz has contributed to the region with artists such as Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny Group, Herbie Hancock, E.S.T., Joe Zawinul and Youssou N'dour, to name but a few of those who have visited Stavanger and Maijazz. Maijazz is constantly evolving Maijazz wants to be a driving force in the cultural development of the region. In recent years, the established collaboration with the University of Stavanger has really taken off. The Bjergsted Jazz Ensemble is a cornerstone of the festival. The series ‘Tett på en Helt’ (Close to a Hero, part of the Blå Trå series at Stavanger Jazzforum) has become one of the most popular events among students at the Institute of Music and Dance/UiS. The collaboration with Stavanger Cathedral School/Music, Dance and Drama, Vågen Upper Secondary School in Sandnes, St. Svithun Upper Secondary School and the Culture School in Bjergsted focuses on the development of musicians, the music scene in the region and, not least, audience development.

Nattjazz (Nightjazz) is the longest jazz festival in Northern Europe and is arranged annually in late May / early June in Bergen. Nattjazz was founded in 1972 and is despite its age, now stronger than ever. Every year approximately 80 concerts are presented throughout the festival period. The main festival area is an old sardine factory, USF Verftet (United Sardines Factory), which now contains several concert venues plus exhibitions, theatre, cinema and artist studios. The music profile of Nattjazz spans through a wide range of styles, with a main focus on modern jazz. During Nattjazz the borderlines between jazz, rock, ethno and electronica are explored and often wiped out. The children also get their share!

Today, it's safe to say that Norway Chess has managed to become one of the world's most recognised and prestigious chess tournaments. Every year, the chess elite meet in Stavanger to take part in this action-packed tournament, and for many players it is perhaps the most attractive tournament they attend. Borealis is a festival for experimental music. A place where we celebrate the music that falls between the gaps. A place for adventurous listening. From the very first note at what was then called the Arendal Jazz and Blues Festival to today’s Canal Street as we know it—with concerts at Arendal Cemetery, Strømsbo Farm, Teaterplassen, Poppes Plass, Sam Eydes Plass, the Cultural Center, and Barnestreet at Kanalplassen—Canal Street has been a meeting place for everything we love about summer in Southern Norway. C(S)U in week 30! For the music. For the city. For each other. About 40-50 different artists and bands visit the festival. Even though jazz traditionally has been well represented, most genres are presented here. In addition to offering the best Norwegian artists, the festival has included artists like Bob Geldof, Lauren Hill, Joss Stone, Waterboys, Gary Moore, Solomon Burke, Melody Gardot, Angélique Kidjo and more on the stage the last five years.

Les 14 et 15 mars 2026 sont les grandes dates de la saison à Holmenkollen, le traditionnel week-end nordique. Avec ski de fond, saut et combiné au programme, les athlètes et le public sont au rendez-vous pour deux jours pleins de suspense, d’histoire et de fête populaire. Le samedi sera tout à fait spécial, quand le double 50 km sera organisé pour la première fois à Holmenkollen. Les hommes partiront à 10h00, avant le départ des femmes à 10h30. Cela signifie que les fondeurs seront sur les pistes en même temps, une innovation qui donnera plus d’action et créera de l’animation sur le stade et le long de la piste. Le public pourra profiter de l’atmosphère habituelle de Holmenkollen mais sous une forme nouvelle et moderne. Le dimanche sera l’iconique dimanche de Holmenkollen avec du saut et du combiné toute la journée. Le public pourra se réjouir d’une journée entière de sauts spectaculaires sur le grand tremplin, combinés à une résistance incroyable et à des duels tactiques sur la piste de ski de fond. C’est ce jour qui a manqué à beaucoup de monde, et le voilà enfin de retour. Le week-end sera une célébration du meilleur du ski.
