Simen Ekern’s new book, A New Europe, explores how Trump’s political allies in Europe have used the crises that have shaken the continent in recent years as catalysts for major political change. It examines the pandemic, climate disasters, the war in Ukraine and the Trump shock in the United States.

Simen Ekern is one of Norway’s leading experts on Europe. As a journalist, he has covered politics across the continent for Morgenbladet, NRK and, most recently, Dagens Næringsliv. Ekern lives in Rome.
