Pour bien des Norvégiens, l’été est synonyme de journées ensoleillées, passées de préférence dans une petite ville du littoral aux maisons de bois blanches. Il existe même un terme pour désigner ces villes : les sommerbyer (littéralement « les villes d’été »), ainsi nommées pour leur ambiance estivale.
Certaines des plus populaires d’entre elles se situent en Norvège du Sud, même si de nombreuses autres saupoudrent l’ensemble du littoral.
