The fishing village of Ona and Ona lighthouse

The picturesque island has a beauty that attracts travelers from far and near, and the most famous attraction is the lighthouse Ona Fyr. The lighthouse was built in 1865 and is centrally located on the island's highest point, Onakalven. It is possible to enter the lighthouse, and from the top you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the ocean and the mainland.

In the area, you will find a small summer café, two pottery workshops, a craft shop, a chapel and a long, white sandy beach. The surroundings offer highly memorable experiences, with peaceful spots where you can enjoy the silence and tranquility.

On the island, there are holiday homes located directly on the quay, where you can stay at both Onakaia and Ona Havstuer by Classic Norway Hotels. Local suppliers offer a wide range of activities on site, including various forms of fishing. Ona is a great destination both during summer and winter. The location close to the open sea and rough weather requires you to bring warm and windproof clothing.

From Molde: Take the ferry from Hollingen, 19 km west of Molde, to Aukra. Drive 10 km to Småge and leave the car here. The ferry from Småge stops at Orten, Finnøya and Sandøya before arriving at Ona. There are 4 daily ferries to this charming island.

From Ålesund: Drive the new Nordøyvegen to Harøya/Finnøya and take the ferry from Finnøy to Ona.

From Midsund: Ferry from Dryna to Brattvåg and drive the Nordøyvegen to Harøya/Finnøya and the ferry from Finnøy to Ona.

Public bus from Molde: This round trip takes you to Ona – a tiny island community out in the ocean. The trip starts in Molde by bus (and a short ferry trip) to Aukra and Småge ferry harbour, where the ferry to Ona starts. The ferry to Ona goes via the island Orten, Finnøya and Sandøya before reaching Ona. This bus tour is available all year.
