Tømmerrenna timber slide in Vennesla

An authentic and historic timber slide in Vennesla, Southern Norway.

The log flume in Vennesla takes you on an exciting hike through a stunning natural landscape.

Take an exciting walk along the riverbank, through tunnels and over bridges – on a 4 km-long log flume. The log flume (timber slide) in Vennesla is today the only and longest of its type anywhere in Norway. The original log flume has become a historic feature and has been restored and protected over the years. The old timber structure was used to float logs from the forest down to the river in olden days.

It is recommended that you start from Steinsfossen, but you can also start from other places. Remember to bring a packed lunch, something to drink and warm clothing. The trip lasts about 2 hours and is perfect for all ages at any time of year. The trip is very easy-going, as you mostly walk along the log flume itself. During the hike, you will see suspension bridges, tunnels, rest areas, delightful views and beautiful nature. You will also closely follow the preserved Setesdalsbanen railway line.

NB! Access to the log flume is at your own risk, so please take care. Access to the station area and the Setesdalsbanen railway line is prohibited.

The log flume in Vennesla is situated about 30 minutes’ drive from the centre of Kristiansand.
