Skåbu Fjellhotell

The Skåbu fjellhotell - Skåbu Mountain Hotel - is situated in the small village of Skåbu at an altitude of 870 m.a.s.l., making it one of Northern Europes highest villages, a true gem!

The hotel opened its doors in 2019 and was redecorated with an eye for detail and love for history and nature. 

We have 17 units, thereof double rooms, suites and apartments, a lounge with fire place and a cozy restaurant. With the help of our chef Lukasz, we have created a unique gastronomical gem of a restaurant in the Norwegian mountains. We use food from our farm, such as wild sheep and free roaming pigs (which you may help feed and cuddle during the summer), as well as fish and game from local fishermen and hunters. 

Through our food philosophy and the use of local produce we like to pass on the region's food traditions and history with heavenly taste and visual enjoyment. The quality is equally high whether you enjoy a moose burger for lunch or «fine dining» in the evening.

Skåbu is situated in the mountainous heart of Southern Norway and makes for a great starting point for explorations. 

Shorter drives away you can find starting points to hikes in Jotunheimen, the Besseggen Ridge, rafting the Sjoa River, the Sikkilsdalen Valley or the potholes called Helvete - Hell - further down the Espedalen Valley. During winter, there are cross-country skiing tracks, dog sledding and snowshoe walks available. 

Skåbu suits the active type that wants to go hiking in our beautiful nature with mountain tops and a rich animal life just as well as the one seeking to enjoy the quietness and the view from the hotel's deck and relax.
