Ringve Music Museum is Norway’s national museum of music and musical instruments, with instruments from all continents

The museum has two permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions and The Music Garden – a digital archive. In the exhibition in the Barn you find a multitude of instruments from all around the world. With an audio guide, you can immerse yourself in the collection, and choose whether you want to hear about a langeleik once owned by Berit from Pynte, an Italian pocket violin, the Chinese instrument Yangqin, a ukulele from Hawaii or something else entirely.

In the exhibition in the Manor House, talented musical guides lead you through music history demonstrating historical instruments such as a house organ made in the 1700s, a disc music box from the late 1800s and a self-playing piano from 1918. The interiors of the Manor house date back to the 1880’s and provide a beautiful setting for the exhibition.

Season: April – October

Today the Ringve Botanical Gardens NTNU surrounds the estate, and the old English garden from the 1800s is included here.
