The listed power station in Tyssedal is located directly by the Hardangerfjord. It is a mighty monument of the hydropower and industrial history that started here in early 1900. A visit to the Kraftmuseum explains Norway's development from a farming society to an industrial society. The museum gives interesting insights into engineering, architecture, and urban development that arose here in the middle of the western Norwegian landscape.

The Kraftmuseuem is an exciting place for the whole family, with different activities for children. There is a quiz along the turbines, an electricity installation, and more.

Guided tour with film
The guided visit starts with the exciting film "The Industrial Adventure". Then a guide will take you through the museum, the outdoor area, and into the power station Tysso 1.
Film starts at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Visit without a guide
You can also visit the museum without a guide and explore the turbine hall and the control room, with authentic interior from different time epochs and the exhibitions. The exhibition "Norwegian Hydropower" explains the Norwegian hydropower history, from the pioneering days to high voltage and transmission towers in Hardanger.

Museum café
In the museum café, you can enjoy homemade coffee and small dishes, local specialties and drinks as well as Hardanger Cider.

Museum shop
You will find books, gifts, and design items in the museum shop, a large selection of mugs, and drinking bottles.

Parking
The parking lot is easy to find, right in front of the museum. The reception with ticket sales is in the power station.
