The alpine skiing venue Narvikfjellet is located near the far end of the deep Ofot Fjord, 220 km north of the arctic circle. Narvikfjellet is North Norway’s largest alpine skiing venue, with a skiing season that lasts from the polar night and northern lights in November until the midnight sun and summer skiing in June.
About Narvikfjellet
Narvikfjellet is a skiing venue for everyone. Families with children and new beginners have a natural place in Sneff Park by Skistua. Here there is a conveyor belt, gentle slopes with fun elements, areas for sledging, and a safe environment for development, play on skis and learning. We have several technically demanding slopes for experienced alpine skiers, which offer a good dose of adrenalin. How about testing out the world championships run? Nature lovers and adrenalin junkies can experience being close to nature and the bubbling excitement from the freeride skiing areas and untouched snow on the mountain tops behind the venue. The alpine skiing venue is known for exciting lift based freeride skiing and has easily accessible mountain top possibilities. It has also been a venue for national and international alpine skiing competitions for many years. Narvikfjellet
has one of Scandinavia’s largest drops for both lift based and off piste skiing, and has urban skiing with a unique location in the middle of Narvik town. In addition, Narvikfjellet is a recreational area and playground for children, new beginners, and active families who are after safe winter experiences. It has something to offer all skill levels. When the most important thing is the total experience, Narvikfjellet is the natural choice! How about spending a day on cross country skis in Tøttadalen, or chasing the northern lights together with one of our guides? There are many variations and possibilities.
Where can you find us?
Narvik is situated north of the arctic circle, at 68 degrees north. Narvikfjellet is an urban skiing venue that is located right in the ‘centre’ of Narvik town. The ski lifts take you up to 1006 m in 10-15 minutes, and the venue is surrounded by deep fjords and high mountains. Narvik is described as a transport centre in the north, and is easily accessible by plane, train, and bus/car.
Our facilities
Narvikfjellet has all the required facilities for a complete skiing experience. Top modern equipment can be hired in the ski rental shop, and our service team are ready to wax and sharpen your own equipment if required. One of our certified guides will willingly take you up to the mountain tops, or show you the best areas for lift based freeride skiing in the venue. Children can learn basic techniques at the ski school, which uses fun surroundings so that learning to ski is fun. The food in the ‘Fjellheis’ restaurant at 656 m tastes even better after a few hours of skiing - at the weekend you can dance here at the after ski events in Peisestua.
We have top quality slopes throughout the entire season, and prioritise daily prepping so that the slopes and lifts are in top condition!
Accommodation
The plan is that Narvikfjellet will be able to offer accommodation at the venue itself by 2023. The project is on the drawing pad and we are looking forward to being able to offer a seamless skiing experience that includes ski in - ski out accommodation! Until this offer is in place, we are continuing our collaboration with the hotels in town (only minutes from Narvikfjellet). Together we have created favourably priced skiing packages that include a lift pass, accommodation, and breakfast. Take a look at the different packages on Narvikfjellet.no.
