Overview

Experience Kistefos-Museum: industrial museum, art Hall and sculpture park Kistefos Museum gives a calm and informal atmosphere, while at the same time conveying interesting art and history. The museum offer something for all ages; both children and adults. The Kistefos-Museet Foundation was founded in 1996 and was made possible by gifts from Christen Sveaas and Jevnaker municipality. Christen Sveaas is the grandchild of Anders Sveaas, the founder of A/S Kistefos Træsliberi.

The historical buildings after A/S Kistefos Træsliberi all make up the industrial museum, where the old wood pulp mill is the heart of the historical guided tours. Here, you will be part of an animated tour, where several of the machines can be started. This gives a unique experience in Scandinavia's only intact pulp mill. Kistefos Museum's principal purpose is to preserve and develop what is today a technical and industrial monument of national importance.

Unique sculpture park and influential artists The sculpture park is part of the abundant and luxuriant park area belonging to Kistefos Museum, and consists of sculptures by Norwegian and international contemporary artists. Several of the sculptures give an interactive and playful experience.

Welcome to the Louise Bourgeois exhibition at Kistefos-Museet. The season 2017, 21st of May – 8th October In the season of 2017, Kistefos-Museet presents the exhibition Human Nature: Doing, Undoing and Redoing by the internationally renownved artist Louise Bourgois (1911-2010).

Louise Bourgois is one of the 20th century's most notable and influential artists. The exhibition gives an exceptional insight into her lifelong examination of foundamental human conditions, which most of us can recognize and will meet throughout our lifetimes.

The exhibition narrates the journey we all must undergo as our lives change and in different ways are torn apart – and how we thereafter grow back together again. Exactly like nature's rhythm, where decay and amputation leads to regrowth and abundance.

The exhibition is curated by Luise Faurschou.
