At the harbour on Fedje island, 2 hours from Bergen, Jentene på Kaien is a cosy coastal café and local tourist information - serving sveler and homemade cakes.
This is where your Fedje experience begins. Enjoy freshly made sveler – traditional Norwegian griddle cakes, served warm – together with homemade cakes, good coffee, and simple seasonal dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients. On sunny days, relax on the benches outside overlooking the harbour, while stormy weather makes the cosy indoor café an inviting refuge. Wherever you choose to sit, you'll be greeted with genuine island hospitality.
Behind Jentene på Kaien are Bjørg Karin Lekva and Bente Margareth Kleivane, two passionate locals who took over the café in 2026. They know Fedje inside out and are always happy to share recommendations for walks, attractions, history, and hidden gems.
Life unfolds naturally around the harbour. Fishing boats arrive and depart, neighbours stop for a chat, visitors discover the island, and conversations flow as easily as the coffee.
Sustainability and Local Craft
Sustainability is at the heart of everything they do. The café has been carefully renovated using reclaimed materials and also offers locally produced food, artwork, crafts and souvenirs.
A UNESCO Biosphere Destination
Fedje is part of the Nordhordland UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Norway's first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Jentene på Kaien proudly showcases flavours, crafts and products from across the biosphere region.
Jentene på Kaien is a natural meeting place for both locals and visitors.
