The walk up to Øyungen lake is on a gravel trail, but you are completely immersed in nature along the Skarselva river, which runs down to Maridalsvannet lake.
Fron the Skar parking lot, follow the gravel path to the left for 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) until you reach Øyungen. There are lots of places to picnic or camp along the shores of the lake. To get back you can follow the gravel road on the opposite side of the Skarselva river.
Difficulty level: Easy
Elevation: 160-280 metres above sea level
Time consumption: 1,5-2 hours
Transportation: Drive or take bus no. 51 to the Skar parking lot at the end of Maridalsveien.
Good to know: No restrooms. Child- and stroller-friendly.
Insider tip: Bring your canoe, kayak or paddleboard up to Øyungen Lake. From there you can paddle from lake to lake until your heart is content and arms are tired. There really is no limit to how far you and go and how many lakes you can explore. Bring a tent and you can even paddle all the way to Hadeland.
