Dog sledding on wheels - Basecamp Explorer Spitsbergen
Short hikes (1-4 hours)
Fiche info
Durée: 4 hours
Basecamp Explorer have a 90 huskies that are eager to take you out on a trip while in Svalbard. On this adventure you will learn how to handle your own team of six dogs. They all have their own names and a friendly personality.
The Alaska huskies are the most social animals in Svalbard, and we give them just as much love and attention all year around. The Basecamp huskies are just as eager to run in the summer as in wintertime, even though there is no snow during summer and autumn. This time of year, our dog sled adventures are arranged with wheel cart instead of winter sleds.
On our dog sledding trips, you will get to participate in the full mushing experience. You will be harnessing your own team of huskies, driving your own dog wagon with your team, and socialise with the dogs before and after the run. We will teach you all the basics and supervise you as we go.
The adventure is finished up with a warm drink in our trapper’s hut, and in good weather we can enjoy the snacks outside. During the summer you will experience the colourful landscape of the Arctic summer. During the fall, you will be able to enjoy the magical lights of the Polar night season.
