About Varanger Brygge is a family business that was established in 2020. Through the establishment, we want to facilitate tourist fishing in and around the Varangerfjord. This with locations that contribute to the tourists being able to get out to fishing spots around the Varangerfjord and where they have opportunities to acquire trophy and species fishing from the fjord. There will be very good and comfortable accommodation options with a strong focus on location and standard. Furthermore, there will be opportunities to take part in fishing on local mountain lakes and rivers that are located around the Varangerfjord.

Our vision is the following; To be able to offer unique experiences and sustainable tourist fishing both at sea, in mountain lakes and in rivers based on the town of Bugøynes and its unique location and history.

Bugøynes has a unique history that started with Finnish immigrants in the 1800s. A fishing village and a community were established that made a good living from fishing from the Varangerfjord.

During World War II, Bugøynes was spared from burning, this unfortunately in contrast to many other local communities in Finnmark. This means that today at Bugøynes we find a unique building mass with many older buildings from the early 1900s and late 1800s. The population was between 500 and 600 people from the late 1800s to the mid-1970s.

Then many of the families had their income from the Varangerfjord or the local local fishing industry company. Since then, the population has declined steadily and now counts approx. 200 people. Despite this, Bugøynes has managed to create a good foundation in fishing where more fishermen are also recruited. Delivery of king crab and white fish to our two fish receptions are important jobs in the village. There is also a large increase in the number of tourists who take the trip to Bugøynes to experience the place with its unique location, uniqueness and history. Bugøynes is located 100 km from both Kirkenes and Vadsø and can be easily reached by car or bus. Alternatively, we at Varanger Brygge can pick you up by sea.

At Bugøynes there is an open shop 6 days a week where all the necessary food can be bought. We have our own Bistro which is open every day during the summer season. Here you can enjoy fantastic dishes made from local ingredients and this just has to be experienced! In high season you may want to book a table in advance to secure a place. Otherwise, Varanger Brygge wants to contribute to further growth for the business community in Bugøynes, which in turn contributes to a further livelihood for Bugøynes as a vibrant local community in Sør-Varanger municipality.
