Three nights we go out hunting for the magic of the Northern Lights. Senja has very good locations to get the ultimate Northern Lights experience from spectacular view points.

You will have three meals a day including warm lunch and dinner consisting of homemade North Norwegian food. Furthermore, you can have so much coffee/tea as you want throughout your stay.

Accommodation at Posthuset Expedition Lodge.

Monday 30th of December:
The expedition starts in Tromsø with whale safari to Skjervøy with Nordens Paris Charter. Departure from the dock in Tromsø city centre at 8:30am (08:30). The last two seasons the whales have arrived north in the fjords of Skjervøy. Both humpback whales and orcas come in to the fjord to feed on herring. The traditional season for whale watching is from November to the end of January. The boat, Lovund Express, is a big catamaran, with a warm room inside and a café. You will be back in Tromsø no later than 3pm (15:00). Note, lunch on the whale safari is not included.

The expedition goes on in Senja - the fairytale island, with spectaculare nature, just south of Tromsø.

4:15pm (16:15): Departure express boat ("hurtigbåt") from Tromsø Havn Prostneset (Tromsø harbour) to Finnsnes. Duration of the tour is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Remember to be at the boat in good time. The catamaran usually leaves the harbour on schedule. You buy the ticket on board.

5:30pm (17:30): We meet you at the arrival terminal in Finnsnes, and continue by car to the island Senja, along the National Scenic Route Senja to Posthuset Expedition Lodge. We arrive at Posthuset Expedition Lodge after one hour. There will be an experienced and friendly guide/host with you almost all the time. The first evening you will get information on how to photograph the Northern Lights, before we head out on the first out of three Northern Lights hunts.

Tuesday 31st of December: New Years eve!
During daytime, we go out on a fjord cruise in the beautiful Bergsfjorden in an open Zodiac boat, and we look for the great white tailed eagles and the cute seals. We will also share the history of Senja. Wear warm inner and mid layer, and we will provide a floatation suit for you at this fjord cruise. Warm lunch is served at the lodge after the tour.

For dinner, we will serve a traditional Norwegian Christmas dinner; salt and dried lamb ribs, pork ribs, "rotmos" (mashed root vegetables), potato and Christmas salad.

In the evening we hunt for the magical Northern Lights, and around midnight we welcome the new year with fireworks and bonfires outside.

Wednesday 1st of January: Scenic Route Senja!
We take you to the fantastic view points along Scenic Route Senja. Perhaps the roughest nature in Northern Norway. Bring your camera!

In the evening we hunt the magic Northern Lights.

Thursday 2nd of January: Dogsledding!
We take you to Senja's own dog farm, where you are greeted by 35 eager huskies who are looking forward to take you on a sled ride into the nature. The trip is calculated about four hours from arrival of the dog farm to the end of the tour (including preparing the dogs, get dressed with warm thermal suits etc.). You may choose if you would like to drive the sled yourself or have a ride with someone else. You will get a thermal suit for the dog sledding, but remember to wear warm inner layers.

Back at the lodge we are preparing the last night with farewell dinner.
