Akerselva Running Loops
Rushed for time but still want to get in a good run? Whether your starting point is Grønland, Alexander Kiellands plass, Nydalen or anywhere in between, you should take full advantage of being so close to the beautiful river path along Akerselva.
Throw on your runners 12 months a year, hit the path and personalise a run fit for you. The entire path from Grønland up until Maridalsvannet lake is eight kilometres one way, making it the perfect path for a run of any length. From Mathallen Food Hall at Grünerløkka, to where the trail meets Maridalsvannet lake, it is just less than seven kilometres. There is a gradual climb up the whole way – but the hard work pays off on the downhill home.
Difficulty level: Easy
Elevation: 20-160 metres above sea level
Time consumption: 0,5-2 hours
Transportation: You can start from anywhere along the river.
Good to know: The lower parts of the trail are paved, while the uppermost part from Sagene to the lake is gravel. Akerselva is also a great path for walks, biking and child strollers.
Insider tips: Reward yourself after your run with a fresh coffee and pastry at the Mathallen.
In the summer, stop by Frysja for a refreshing swim and to relax.
