At the Monastery, you will get a complete guided tour of the museum. Discover all the different eras the monastery has witnessed and the remains of each of them in the current structure. This peaceful area oozes stories of the monks’ activities and wealth shows in beautiful detailing both out-and indoors. It has served as the royal residence of the very first Viking king of Norway; Harald Fairhair. It was later donated to the monks of Stavanger in the 12th century and has even served as a private mansion long after that.
