Skaret (Skardalen) is one of Oppdal's most snow-reliable areas, where the ski season often both begins and ends. Here you'll find freshly groomed trails from November to April, sometimes as early as October. The trail network connects to Grøtsetra, Nerskogen, and Oppdal center, ideal for both family trips and training sessions. Stop by Grøtsetra for waffles and a warm drink. Access: Drive Rv70 for about 7 km, then follow Nerskogvegen for 8 km to the Skaret parking area. Parking fee applies.

Skaret, also known as Skardalen or Upper Skaret, is one of the most snow-secure areas that Oppdal has to offer.

This is often where the ski season both begins and ends. If you’re looking for freshly groomed trails of the highest quality, bring your family or friends and head to Skaret for a ski tour. Or perhaps take a solo training trip? In this beautiful, snow-reliable valley, you will find cross-country ski trails from as early as November, lasting well into the Easter season in April. On some occasions, the trails have even been groomed after heavy snowfalls at the end of October.

In Skaret, skiers of all ages can be found on the trails. The main trail network is connected to the routes leading towards Grøtsetra and further to Oppdal center, or you can head in the opposite direction towards Nerskogen. You can also ski up to Lunddalen and continue up the valley to Bårdsfjellet, which might be more suitable for mountain skis rather than cross-country skis. Another option is to ski to Porten or Grøtsetra, leading out to Gjevilvassdalen. Grøtsetra is a great choice if you’re feeling a bit hungry, as they offer delicious waffles and warm drinks.

To get to Skaret Parking: Drive on Rv70/Sunndalsvegen for about 7 km. Turn off and drive Nerskogvegen for 8 km. The journey starts from the Skaret parking lot. Don’t forget to pay the parking fee.
