Oppdal Museum – Living history in the heart of the mountains

Just a short walk north of Oppdal town centre, Oppdal Museum invites you to explore Norway’s rural history surrounded by scenic landscapes. The open-air museum features more than 20 historical buildings, showcasing life in Oppdal from the 1500s to the present day.

Wander through traditional farmhouses, barns, storehouses, smithies, summer farms and a recently built exhibition hall in classic dragon style. The museum is a rare opportunity to discover Norwegian architecture, everyday life and craftsmanship over the centuries.

Inside, you'll find exhibitions of traditional crafts, including intricate woodcarvings by local artist Ole Moene, a ski museum, school museum, textile displays and interiors from the local health care history.

During the summer season, the museum comes to life with guided tours, craft demonstrations, and cultural events. Throughout the year, Oppdal Museum also offers custom experiences for groups and rents out venues for meetings and events.
