Discover Oslo's history in the middle of the city centre.

La première pierre de la forteresse d'Akershus fut posée en 1299 par Håkon V, et elle fut terminée au cours du XIVème siècle. Le château médiéval avait une position stratégique sur Akersneset, et a vécu de nombreux assauts à travers les siècles.

Sous Christian IV (1588-1648), le château fut modernisé et aménagé comme un château de la Renaissance. La forteresse se dégrada beaucoup au cours du XVIIIème siècle, et ce fut seulement en 1899 que des travaux de restauration furent entrepris.
