Pop Clubben: Missing Links + The Sparrows

On October 22nd, the Pop Club at Rockheim invites you to a very special evening when we are visited by two bands with an important place in the early rock history of Trøndelag: Missing Links and The Sparrows!

Missing Links
This year Missing Links marks the 60th anniversary of the breakthrough that put them on the map: winning the Norwegian Rock Championships in Oslo in 1966.

The story began in Trondheim in 1965, when Missing Links was formed with a clear musical direction: rhythm & blues – or Soul-Beat, as they themselves called their expression. The repertoire consisted of songs from, among others, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and Small Faces, but primarily of self-composed material.

Just one year later, the band won the Norwegian Rock Championship and took the step to a professional venture based in Stockholm. Erling Mylius and Snorre Tømmerås from Missing Links would later become central to the establishment of Difference – one of Trøndelag's most prominent bands.
After reuniting in connection with the Trøndersk Veteranmesterskap in 1998, the band cleaned up and once again consolidated their position on the Trøndersk music scene. With Asle Risan and Dag E. Kittilsen on the team, Missing Links has developed into a powerful rock and blues band with solid roots in the 60s.
The current cast includes two original members:
Erling Mylius – vocals and guitar
Snorre Tømmerås – guitar and vocals
Asle Risan – vocals and bass
Dag E. Kittilsen – drums
At Rockheim, the lineup is reinforced with Ivar Gafseth on organ, and we also get to see former vocalist Harald Dittrich again on some songs.

The Sparrows

The Sparrows were formed in Buvika in 1964 by Stein Nilsen, Per Olav "Piop" Øiaas, Ivar Fjøseide and Knut Solem, with Ivar Gafseth joining the band the following year. Inspired by British rock, they quickly made a name for themselves with their energetic stage performances and played at Samfundet and in the selection for the Nordic Rock Championships. Although the band only existed until 1966, they laid an important foundation for what later became Difference. A rehearsal from 1966 was released on CD in 2004, and the band re-formed in 2017 in connection with Difference's 50th anniversary. Today, The Sparrows consists of Knut Solem, Per Olav "Piop" Øiaas, Knut Lerand, Stein Nilsen and Ivar Gafseth.
