Norway's international tango master Per Arne Glorvigen presents the curious history of the bandoenon at the Opera.
Much like opera, tango combines poetry, chamber music, song and dance to create a fervent Latin collaborative work of art. Norway's international tango master, Per Arne Glorvigen, leads the audience through the curious history of the bandoneon.
From the German parish halls of the 1800s, the tour takes us to the lively brothels, bars and dance halls of Buenos Aires in the early 1900s, before culminating with Astor Piazzolla’s revival of the genre that can be experienced in concert halls today.
Also on stage are the dancers Pablo Inza and Sofia Saborido, the tango trio Tango for 3, singers from the Norwegian National Opera and musicians from the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra.
