Cross-country skiing in Sirdal

Sirdal is a paradise for cross-country skiing enthusiasts with its 200 km groomed and marked winter trails.

Sirdal offers 200 km groomed and marked cross-country trails. The trails are offered in the following areas:

•Ådneram-Suleskar,
•Fidjeland-Tjørhom
•Tonstad-Josdal
•Mydland

Sirdal offers three different floodlit trails/ski arenas:

Feed ski arena is located only four km from Tonstad, and is a modern competition arena for crosscountry and biatlhon. In the summer, 3 km is paved for rollerskiing.

At Tjørhom you will find 3 km of floodlit trails which are open from 5pm on weekdays, and 10am at the weekend and during school holidays. 

In between Haugen and Kvæven you will find 2.5km of floodlit trails.

Green Run - suitable for beginners and requires no special skills. The tracks are under 5km, with less than 100 meters in height difference.

Blue Run - Suits medium well trained skiers with basic skills. The tracks are up to 10 km, and have less than 300 meters in height difference.

Red Run -Suitable for experienced and well trained skiers with good equipment and good endurance levels. The tracks are mainly in high mountain terrain, often in areas without mobile signal. Knowledge of map and compass is an advantage. The tracks have lengths of up to 20km, and can have up to 600 metres height difference.

Black Run (expert) - Suitable for experienced and well trained skiers. It requires good equipment and stamina. Knowledge of maps and compass required. The tracks are maintained, but not groomed. Knowlege of mountain skiing is an advantage.

NB! Preparation of the trails can be made at any time. Keep a safe distance of 20 meters to the machine. All traffic on the cross country track is at your own risk.

Trail Rules: walk always in the right slot so that the left slot is always available for passers-by or oncoming traffic. We all have our on pace for skiing and it is important to respect others!

In addition to the marked and groomed trails, the Norwegian Trekking Assosiation (DNT) put out trail markers in the wilderness. These are not for the faint hearted. Maps, compasses and extensive outdoor experience is a must on these trips!
