Håholmen, a former fishing community worthy of presevation in the Hustadvika bay, has served as a meeting place, harbour, home and workplace for fishermen, sailors, shopkeepers and travellers for hundreds of years. Håholmen has been a stockfish fishing community since the beginning of the 1700s. In 1898, Ragnar Thorseth's grandfather, Bård Bergseth, purchased the place and settled down there. Fishing operations continued up until 1960 and the Bergseth family lived there permanently until 1978.
In 1989, Kari and Ragnar Thorseth have brought new life to the 300-year-old fishing village, Håholmen, and this beautiful, weather-beaten island has once again become an attractive meeting place for people. Since then, Classic Norway is now running the hotel on this beautiful and unique place.
Håholmen Sea Cottages consists of 25 buildings, including the main building, meeting rooms, hotel rooms, a pub, a restaurant, and a museum of the viking sailing of the adventurer and former owner, Ragnar Torseth. The guests roam between the buildings here, just like they did in a living fishermen’s community in the olden days. There are 47 rooms at Håholmen, none of which has view towards a backyard. Almost all rooms have splendid view over the island and ocean. These unique cottages all with their special style, but with all necessary and comfortable facilities.
There is no self catering in the rooms, but Håholmen has a good restaurant.
For day vistit: boat departure every hour in the summer from 11-21.
